As part of ISPA’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of market data available for sleep products, we requested earlier this year that US Customs and Border Protection (Customs), the agency of the Treasury Department that collects international trade data, change how it collects data on imported pillows. Up to this point, Customs has grouped imports of all cushions, pillows and similar furnishings together. Customs has now approved ISPA’s request to create a statistical subclassification within this broader category for bed pillows. This change, which goes into effect on January 1, 2023, will have no impact on the duty rates that currently apply to imported pillows.
