Under AB 4849, introduced last week in the NY Assembly, manufacturers would report to the state beginning in 2024 when they intentionally add PFAS to their products.

In 2025, intentionally added PFAS would be prohibited from fabrics, rugs, carpets, cookware and other products sold in New York. Finally, by 2030, intentionally added PFAS would be prohibited from all other products. Nevertheless, state or federal authorities could make exceptions when the use of PFAS is unavoidable.

This bill is not expected to see action until 2022.
