The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has announced that it has added perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) to the list of chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer for purposes of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65). The listing requires businesses to include a warning on their products containing PFOAs that the chemical has been found to cause cancer. The requirement will take effect on February 25, 2023.
