Connecticut Flame Retardant Bill Amended to Omit Mattress Labeling

ISPA last week persuaded the Joint Committee on Public Health to amend SB 255, which would require consumer products that contain FRs to bear special labels and prohibit FRs from use in juvenile products (including crib mattresses). Following written testimony ISPA provided in opposition to the bill, mattresses were exempted from the labeling requirement. We will continue to advocate for changes that clearly exempt adult mattresses from the juvenile products FR ban.
