The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that ESS Universal USA has recalled 1,800 waterproof foam mattresses sold in twin, twin XL, and full sizes. The CPSC has concluded that these mattresses failed to meet mandatory federal flammability standards and pose a fire hazard. The recalled mattresses were sold online at essunivesal.com between April 2021 and March 2022. So far, no incidents have been reported with the recalled units. The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled mattresses and contact ESS Universal to arrange for shipment of a cover with zipper that will bring the mattresses into compliance, free of charge. ESS Universal USA is contacting all purchasers directly.
