The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls for two sleep products.

Zinus has recalled about 30,000 SmartBase® Euro Slats Metal Platform Bed Frames. The recalled frames did not include reinforcing brackets for installation on the corners of the frame, which could lead to the frame collapsing. The recalled bedframes have a black metal frame and measure 14 inches high and were sold in twin, full, queen and king sizes online between May and November 2022. So far, Zinus has received 14 reports of their bed frames collapsing with one injury reported. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled metal bed frames and contact Zinus to obtain a free repair kit.

In addition, Platinum Health has recalled about 53,000 LumaRail brand adult portable bed rails. The recalled bed rails pose a risk of entrapment and asphyxia. This recall involves the Bed Assist Rail with Legs (model PHB4000), Free Standing Bed Assist Rail (model PHB6000) and the DoubleSafe Bed Assist Rail (model PHB7000D). The bed rails are made of white metal tubing with a gray or black foam rubber grip handle and may have a black fabric pouch. Platinum Health sold the recalled bed rails on its website, PlatinumHealthLLC.com and through online retailers from July 2015 through December 2022. So far, there is one reported death related to this product. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Platinum Health for a free repair kit. Consumers who use model PHB7000D on twin beds will receive a free replacement bedrail redesigned to properly fit twin beds.
