CA SB 707, which would create a manufacturer-funded recycling program for textiles (defined to include apparel and textile articles), passed the California Assembly and State Senate and will be sent to Governor Newsom for his signature or veto. Pursuant to ISPA’s request, the bill excludes materials managed under MRC’s California mattress recycling program (which includes mattresses, foundations and futons).

The Governor will have until September 30th to sign or veto SB 707. If signed, it would be the first textile extended producer responsibility recycling bill enacted in the United States.
