Delegate Amy Laufer has introduced legislation (VA HB 86) in the Virginia House of Delegates to establish a statewide mattress recycling program. ISPA fully supports this legislation and collaborated with Delegate Laufer to draft it. Importantly, HB 86 follows the structure that has enabled the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC) to operate effectively in existing states while allowing for the flexibility needed to make the program a success in the Commonwealth. ISPA intends to testify in support of this legislation once a hearing is scheduled and will provide details on how ISPA members can submit individual letters of support for this important bill. ISPA expects a Senate version of this bill to be introduced shortly.
