MD HB 984 and MD SB 603, which would have enacted a statewide mattress recycling program in Maryland, died after the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session adjourned Monday, April 13. ISPA testified in support of both bills at hearings of the Senate Education, Energy, and Environment Committee and the House Environment and Transportation Committee. Both bills failed to advance from the committee during the 2026 legislative session. 

Between now and the 2027 Maryland legislative session, ISPA will continue to engage with interested stakeholders and legislators to help push this legislation across the finish line in 2027.
