Shawn Swearingen, ISPA’s Director for Policy and Government Affairs, testified in support of S2359 on October 8 during the New Jersey Senate’s Committee on Environment and Energy hearing. S2359 would establish a mattress stewardship program in the state that would mirror programs already established in California, Connecticut, Oregon, and Rhode Island. The measure passed unanimously from the committee after verbal testimony from ISPA and the Association of New Jersey Recyclers. S2359 was referred to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee where it awaits next steps in the legislative process.
