National Association of Manufacturers Highlight Regional Differences in Manufacturing Activity
According to the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Monday Economic Report, the Regional Federal Reserve Bank Manufacturing Surveys show uneven growth in January manufacturing activity. While activity improved dramatically in Dallas and Philadelphia, manufacturing activity remained sluggish in Richmond.
According to the US ISM Manufacturing Index, January came in stronger than expected. According to the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the Manufacturing PMI climbed to 50.9 in January from 49.3 in the previous month, beating market predictions of 49.8. Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in January after 26 consecutive months of contraction, say the nation’s supply executives in the latest report.
