Language from an ISPA-supported bill (MA H. 1023) to establish a statewide mattress recycling program in Massachusetts was incorporated into the House version of an omnibus environmental bill “An Act to Build Resilience for Massachusetts Communities” (MA S. 3064). The mattress recycling language was included during the House debate of the bill, during which ISPA submitted this letter of support for the amendment.

Next, as the House and Senate language differ, S. 3064 heads to a conference committee. During this process, a six-member committee comprised of members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and State Senate will iron out the differences between the versions of the bill.

As the mattress recycling language is in the House version but not the Senate version, ISPA will be watching this process closely. ISPA will keep its membership apprised of any important developments regarding this legislation.
